What does the word gratitude mean to you? How long does it take you to show your appreciation to someone who did something big for you? How about when the favor they have done is not actually considerable?

I do not believe that gratitude has to be saved for the “big” things in life. It is the opposite; this habit starts with recognizing that there is nothing too small for you to be thankful for. Appreciating every good thing in life easily becomes a habit. It comes from simple things like appreciating the nice weather or the delicious food you made yesterday that everyone enjoyed. Trust your brain as a powerful tool. Because, studies show that people can deliberately cultivate gratitude,

and there are important social and personal benefits to doing so. If you make conscious effort to count your blessings, after some weeks the emotion generates a climate of positivity that both reaches inward and extends outward. Research demonstrates the value of gratitude as a practice. Training your brain towards adopting an attitude of gratitude is all part of ensuring that it comes more easily as you practice. So, what are you waiting for?
