Are You Game?
“Games are a controlled form of freedom. Our brains grab onto them because they are structures that exist to be avoided”
This is how games are defined by Sam Von Ehren in a New Yourk Times article. A guilty pleasure that is sometimes consumed secretly by adults. Maybe because almost everyone believes that play is crucial for a child’s development, but not many people know that it is also beneficial for people of all ages.
Games makes life more joyful and it can be as simple as sharing jokes with a coworker or going for a bike ride with no destination in mind. The benefits to reap would be countless. They are as important as stress relief and strong connection to others and the world around us.
“We bring our bodies, personalities, and life experiences into the game. We take the memories and experience of the game with us when we leave.”
When was the last time you played a game?
